Dr Dinesh Varma

I’m Learning Too.

I’m a doctor, and I’m still working on my own health. I know what it’s like to put your health behind other responsibilities. Here, I share what I’m learning.

Meet Dr Varma

I’m Dr Varma. I’m 42, and I know what it’s like to keep putting your own health behind your responsibilities.

I’ve always considered myself healthy and fit. But through my years as a junior doctor, a senior doctor and eventually running my own practice, looking after myself kept slipping down the list.

An ACL injury hadn’t fully recovered. I was sleeping poorly. Sport and activities outside work fell away. There was always another patient to care for, another responsibility to handle, another reason to leave myself until later.

I gained weight, felt more fatigued, and carried the weight of wanting to make the right decisions for my patients. I realised I needed to do something for myself too.

I invested in further education and kept learning. I’m still doing that. And I’m still working towards where I want to be with my own health.

But I’m not waiting to become the best version of myself before helping someone else.

I want to use my knowledge and strength to help others move forward, while continuing to do the work myself. That’s why I’m here.

If your health keeps coming last too, let’s start with one change that fits your life.
